The expansion of an existing backyard office and design studio. An irregular form with exposed wood structure and a skylight was built onto the existing building, adding space and light to the client’s work area. The exposed structure adds architectural interest and volume to an otherwise small space. Found objects have been creatively repurposed within the studio, supporting the streamlined, less-is-more aesthetic. The studio is a careful balance of daylight-filled interior volume and exterior garden spaces. Details: (square footage: 780 sf); (folly height: +/- 12 ft); (yard width: 50 ft). |
